GNC is the abbreviation of General Nutrition Centers, and was founded in the year of 1935 by David Shakarian in Pennsylvania. Shakarian first opened a tiny health food store in Pittsburgh and would only make about $30 a day; however, despite the fact that he would only make a certain amount every day, he was still able to open his second store a few months afterwards. Sadly, Shakarian suffered from a fatal blow since a flood wiped out his stores. Luckily, he recovered from the accident, and a couple years after, he was able to reopen about 5 more stores in different areas.
The Expansion of GNC
During the 60′s, Shakarian expanded GNC outside of Pittsburgh and continued to manage and open new stores until he passed away in the 80′s. GNC was then sold to the Apollo Management in the year of 2003. There are now dozens of GNC’s around the entire world including Asian Countries as well. There are a lot of GNC stores in the small country of the Philippines, and has become one of the main places for Filipinos to buy health products. As of today, there are over 6,000 GNC stores across America and the entire world. While the revenue is about $1.82 billion only in the year of 2010. What Does GNC Retail?
GNC retails a bunch of bodybuilding and weight loss supplements, vitamins, natural remedies, energy products, magazines, beauty products, protein, minerals, and also a bunch of third party brand names as well. They also retail a bunch of fitness and health books for people that want to achieve their perfect bodies, and the best part is that all of the products that GNC retails isn’t that expensive. All of the products that GNC retails are all made with quality, which is why until now, they are still one of the main places to purchase health and beauty products.
Throughout the years, GNC has been the place where people visit to buy their health and beauty products and will continue on to becoming one of the most famous places to purchase these products. GNC retails quality and very inexpensive health and beauty products, which is why the nutrition center is now super successful. There is absolutely no nutrition center out there that can beat the success of GNC, because until now, there is still so many very faithful customers that shop at GNC.
